Job description

We are seeking a seasoned Foreclosure / Insolvency / Banking Litigation Attorney to join a dynamic legal team in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

In this critical role, you will leverage your extensive expertise in foreclosure law / Banking Litigation to manage complex cases, provide strategic legal guidance, and lead a team of junior attorneys.

Your deep understanding of foreclosure processes, coupled with your exceptional negotiation and litigation skills, will be instrumental in protecting our clients' interests and achieving favorable outcomes.

Duties - Foreclosures / Insolvency / Banking Litigation :

  • Drafting Legal Documents: Drafting demand letters, notices, and other legal documents related to debt collection actions.
  • Negotiation : Negotiating with debtors to reach settlement agreements or payment plans that are mutually beneficial to the client and the debtor.
  • Litigation Management: Managing legal proceedings in cases where negotiation fails, including filing lawsuits, attending court hearings, and representing clients in court, managing staff.
  • Run High Court Motion Proceedings independently
  • Record Keeping : Maintaining accurate records of all communications, negotiations, and legal actions taken in debt collection cases.
  • Client Reporting : Providing regular updates and reports to clients on the progress of debt collection efforts, including the status of outstanding debts and any legal developments.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Minimum 3 years post-admission experience - specializing in High Court Banking Litigation with specific focus on foreclosures and Banking Litigation matters
  • Admitted Attorney
  • Possess high court litigation experience
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and own transport
  • Previous experience in managing his/her own department would be an advantage
  • Previous experience in managing junior personnel would be an advantage
  • Ability to manage a portfolio independently
