Summary
To build relationships with large customers, large businesses, and bulk buyers, overseeing their orders from initiation to completion of sale.
Functions / Responsibilities
- Conduct market research to establish customer needs by segment, providing feedback to relevant managers.
- Provide in-store feedback on potential challenges & opportunities.
- Identify and attract new business opportunities.
- Research businesses online and in directories to source customers in the target market.
- Use detailed maps to locate large customers and businesses.
- Note business names during research.
- Follow up on referrals.
- Check if businesses are already cardholders through the store system.
- Conduct price surveys on competitors.
- Understand category performances and market conditions.
- Build and maintain a strong customer base, providing excellent service.
- Interact professionally with corporate clients for recruitment and service.
- Recruit new bulk traders and service walk-in customers.
- Understand customer needs and advise accordingly, especially on food products.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of food products and store offerings.
- Maintain contact with customers to promote store offerings.
- Ensure effective administration of the Food Floor and Tele-Sales department, including order processing and system updates.
- Negotiate deals with management and buyers to offer the best deals.
- Coordinate promotional activities with inventory teams.
- Update CRM system and generate daily reports.
- Leverage market conditions to increase profitability and sales.
- Coordinate processing of customer orders and quotes.
- Meet or exceed sales and operational targets.
- Grow business partner groups and tailor deals for customer retention.
- Visit customers as needed.
- Satisfy customer queries and escalate unresolved issues.
- Control shrinkage and maintain housekeeping standards.
- Report suspicious activities and high-value items.
- Demonstrate teamwork and self-management, maintaining quality and productivity standards.
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12; sales or related field qualification preferred.
- 2-3 years of proven sales experience.
- Competencies include judgment, customer focus, planning, influence, adaptability, and knowledge of store processes.
- Strong administrative, communication, and motivational skills.
- Trustworthiness in handling cash and company resources.
