Job summary

EdUpStairs in Parow is seeking a dedicated kitchen worker to prepare, dish up and serve food for normal and special diets, and assist with stock control.

You will follow hygiene and safety directives, support in-training of new staff and attend trainings. The role requires willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays, and the physical ability to work in large freezers and cold rooms.

Qualifications

• Basic numeracy and literacy required.
• Experience in a large-scale Industrial Food Service Unit.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Ability to work in large scale freezers and cold rooms.
• Physically strong to lift heavy objects and stand all day.
• Knowledge of National Food Service Guidelines.
• Knowledge of cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, dish up and serve food for normal and special diets.
• Assist with receipt, storage and stock control of food supplies.
• Follow hygiene and safety directives including use of equipment and washing of crockery and utensils.
• Assist with informal in-service training of new employees.
• Attend prescribed training courses.
