Job description

Our client is urgently in need of a qualified Food Safety Quality Controller to join their team.

POSITION PURPOSE

This position is responsible to ensure quality, food safety and regulatory compliance within the Group, assist the Group Food Safety Manager in maintaining compliance with all required audits, maintain all food safety records for the Group, responsible for the review and update of the food safety manual, living the values and adhering to all policies and procedures.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS / OUTPUTS / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure Quality, Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance within the company
  • Invest in personal development
  • Assist the GFSM in Maintaining Compliance with all Required Audits
  • Adhere to all the policies and procedures
  • Maintain all Food Safety Records
  • Responsible for the Review and Update of the Food Safety Manual
  • Internal : All departments in the Group
  • External : Suppliers, customers, consumers, auditors, regularity personnel, service provider (waste disposal, pest control, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum : National Diploma in food technology or biotechnology
  • Preferred : Bachelor’s in food technology or biotechnology or quality management
  • Experience : Minimum : 2 Years’ experience

UNDERSTANDING

  • Full understanding of South African legislation and regulations of food manufacturing, and import & export legislations
  • Understanding of the various food safety standards
  • Strong understanding of audit requirements
  • New and current product development
  • Knowledge of meat and poultry production

SKILLS

  • Experience in participating in food safety audits
  • Ability to delegate and instruct a team
  • Strong team player
  • Computer literate and strong administration ability
  • Problem solving and trouble shooting

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Passed credit and criminal checks
  • Passed medical exams
  • Own transport

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Working at low and sub-zero temperatures
