COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

Our client is a leading South African meat wholesaler supplying meat and other food products to sectors of the hotel, restaurant and hospitality industries. They are looking for a Food Safety and Quality Manager to join their Johannesburg team.

JOB DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure full implementation and monitoring of the Quality Assurance and Food Safety Management System including ensuring that the programs are communicated, training of all employees and the promotion of the programs amongst management and staff.
  • Ensure that all products are produced safely, legally and of a high standard of quality in line with relevant legislation.
  • Co-ordinate and monitor the implementation of the company’s Health and Safety policy.
  • Maintain, control and co-ordinate all functions within the Quality Control department, as well as help to develop and oversee the Quality Control and Cleaning teams.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric
  • Degree / diploma in food science, quality control or equivalent (food-related discipline)

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in management or supervisory role in a food manufacturing environment
  • Computer literate
  • Own reliable transport is essential
  • Ability to delegate, motivate and instruct a team of direct reports
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Strong team player, able to work with people at all levels
  • Computer literate and strong administrative skills
  • Problem solving and multi-tasking
