Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager – Food Manufacturing

Introduction
Our client, a well-established manufacturing company, is looking to employ a Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager with GFSI certification as the Food Safety Manager in the Mpumalanga area. This position is also responsible for the management of quality and the lab.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Conduct internal audits on systems: FSSC.
2. Report writing and effective corrective action.
3. Feedback to management.
4. Ensure successful external audits by customers and certification bodies to achieve certification and supplier approval.
5. Ensure world-class hygiene practices as per ISO.
6. Management of the lab, including efficiency of lab equipment, monitoring of quality, record keeping, and statistics.
7. Responsible for quality and daily product review and reporting.
8. Sample analysis at external and internal labs and assessment of COAs with trend analysis.
9. Liaise with customers on complaints, conduct root cause analysis, identify corrective and preventive actions, follow up on effectiveness, and draw up graphs.
10. Training and communication: Meetings and info sessions.
11. Document management.
12. Statistics drawn up on each aspect of the systems to measure against targets.
13. Internal audits on Environmental Management (ISO).
14. Internal audits on ISO Occupational Health and Safety.

Desired Experience & Qualification

1. At least 5 years' experience in establishing, implementing, and achieving GFSI certification as the Food Safety Manager.
2. Outstanding internal auditing skills on FSSC (or any other GFSI system).
3. Internal auditing experience on ISO will be advantageous.
4. Prompt reporting and report writing skills.
5. Investigative and analytical skills.
6. Proficient in MS Office.
7. Lab management experience.
8. Service provider and customer relationship management.
9. In-depth knowledge and experience in implementing a GFSI recognized system.
10. Driver's license.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: R30,000.00 - R45,000.00 per month
Ability to commute/relocate: Springs, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
