Job summary

University of Fort Hare is seeking a Storeman for its Stellenbosch-area operations. The role involves receiving, storing, issuing, and recording raw materials, packaging, and finished products, while upholding safety and hygiene standards in line with HACCP and GMP.

You'll ensure correct stock handling, accurate documentation, and adherence to FIFO/FEFO principles. Proven warehouse experience and basic computer skills are advantageous for this fast-paced supply chain environment.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12/Matric or equivalent/diploma.
• Good communication and organisational skills are essential.
• Able to read and complete basic warehouse documentation.
• Physically fit to perform manual handling duties.

Responsibilities

• Receive deliveries of raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, cleaning materials and other goods.
• Check quantities, product descriptions, batch numbers, expiry dates and delivery notes.
• Inspect incoming stock for damage or quality concerns and report discrepancies.
• Store products in designated locations and maintain accurate stock records.
• Apply FIFO and FEFO principles; monitor expiry dates and assist with stock takes.
• Operate warehouse equipment where licensed and ensure safe handling.
• Record stock movements, issuing, and dispatch documentation accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in storage areas and comply with HACCP/GMP requirements.
