Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Food & Beverage Supervisor to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa. As a key member of our hospitality organization, you will lead and inspire our food and beverage team to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

Responsibilities include:

  • Organizing and supervising shifts, ensuring proper staffing and standards
  • Maintaining visibility and engagement with guests and staff across outlets
  • Having comprehensive knowledge of menus, beverage lists, and service standards
  • Assisting with guest service, including menu and wine advice
  • Addressing guest complaints promptly and escalating as necessary
  • Ensuring cleanliness, safety, and hygiene in kitchens and back-of-house areas
  • Overseeing food quality, presentation, and service delivery

Administration and stock control:

  • Conducting stock takes and assisting with report preparation
  • Supporting menu planning and inventory management
  • Managing POS system accuracy and billing
  • Handling shift cash-ups and financial reporting
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing laws and regulations

Employee supervision:

  • Preparing staff schedules, payroll, and workload distribution
  • Organizing training and performance evaluations
  • Maintaining professional appearance and enforcing discipline

Health & Safety:

  • Reporting safety concerns and participating in safety training
  • Ensuring safety protocols are followed and equipment maintained
  • Managing hazards and incidents according to procedures

Systems & Procedures:

  • Reporting system issues and suggesting improvements
  • Adhering to brand standards and operational policies

Guest Service and Employee Relationships:

  • Providing friendly, efficient service and anticipating guest needs
  • Leading by example and fostering teamwork
  • Being familiar with emergency procedures

Environmental and Social Responsibility:

  • Participating in community and sustainability initiatives
  • Managing energy use and waste reduction

General Duties:

  • Performing additional tasks as requested by management
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and high service standards

Qualifications:

  • Proven supervisory experience in food and beverage, preferably in high-end hospitality
  • Knowledgeable about food, beverages, and industry trends
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and in various shifts
  • Experience with inventory and POS systems
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Hospitality qualification is a plus
