Job Description: Floating Technologist (Internal/External)

Company Overview: Deltamune (Pty) Limited is a South African-based biotechnology company specializing in veterinary health, offering vaccines on a commercial scale. Our range includes registered and autogenous vaccines for poultry, ruminants, and other species.

Position Details:

  • Department: Production
  • Location: Roodeplaat, Pretoria
  • Reports to: Microbiology Manager
  • Classification: Permanent

Primary Purpose of the Position

The Floating Technologist will independently and collaboratively provide services for the production of freeze-dried products, bacterial and viral antigens, cell culture, quality control, contract manufacturing, and final product formulations. Responsibilities include planning, performing, and coordinating production activities to ensure process continuity and quality standards are met, while adhering to quality management systems and maintaining accurate records. The role also involves embodying Deltamune’s values and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure process continuity within the Production Facility by providing services related to freeze-dried products, fermentation, virology, cell culture, quality control, and formulation, aligned with the production schedule.
  2. Manufacture products in accordance with specifications and standards.
  3. Interpret data to identify potential failures and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  4. Provide early warnings to management regarding potential delays or issues affecting turnaround times.
  5. Perform product preparation and quality control testing efficiently.
  6. Verify production records and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the work area.
  7. Assist in routine maintenance and repair of equipment to ensure optimal functioning.
  8. Manage stock levels to support manufacturing needs.
