Job Title: Flight Operations Inspector - General Aviation Organisations (Centurion)

Job Location: Gauteng, Centurion

Description

Assessment, Inspections, and Oversight
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding the issuance, amendment, and renewal of Part 96 OC and Part 93 CAOC, including associated operations specifications and the operator's competence to exercise certificate privileges;
  • Evaluate and recommend for the issuance, amendment, and renewal of a Part 149 approval, including the continued competence of the approval holder;
  • Assess and recommend for the initial issuance or amendment of an air service license for a Part 96 operator;
  • Evaluate and recommend for the approval and acceptance of operator and organisation documentation;
  • Conduct inspections, oversight, and surveillance to ensure safety standards and compliance;
  • Perform station facility, ramp, and base inspections of operators, along with other necessary checks;
  • Make recommendations for enforcement actions;
  • Investigate and report potential violations of South African civil aviation laws, regulations, and standards.
Maintenance and Acquisition of Specialist Skills
  • Stay informed on aircraft operation safety, legal, and policy matters;
  • Maintain expertise in the relevant area and stay updated with industry developments.
Proposals and Revision of Standards
  • Research, develop, and propose amendments to regulations, standards, and procedures for safe aircraft operation.
Communications and Safety Promotion
  • Represent SACAA positively to stakeholders;
  • Promote aviation safety through participation in forums and safety improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Education
  • Minimum: Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Ideal: Experience with commercial aircraft operations, aviation safety officer role, and quality management experience
Experience
  • 500 hours as a pilot of civil or military aircraft
