Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Fleet Manager to lead and grow strategic relationships with key clients across public and private sectors. This role involves overseeing fleet sales, contract negotiation, customer satisfaction, and market strategy. The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial acumen, excellent relationship management skills, and a solid understanding of the automotive and fleet management landscape in South Africa.
Responsibilities
Customer Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain long-term, stable partnerships with key customers including government agencies, leasing companies, corporates, and large distributors.
- Serve as the communication bridge between company and clients, ensuring alignment of business objectives and rapid resolution of issues.
- Monitor and enhance customer satisfaction through tailored service and consistent engagement to ensure customer loyalty.
Sales and Business Development
- Develop and implement fleet sales strategies to achieve and exceed sales targets across all relevant brands.
- Analyze customer needs to tailor product offerings and service packages that add value and drive business growth.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities with large-scale or strategic customers to expand market presence.
Contract Negotiation and Management
- Lead negotiations with major clients, ensuring favorable contract terms that support company profitability and sustainability.
- Oversee contract execution and compliance, coordinating internally to ensure timely delivery and service.
- Manage contract renewals and identify upselling opportunities to extend or enhance existing partnerships.
Market Analysis and Competitor Research
- Conduct thorough market research to stay informed on industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes.
- Use competitive insights to support product positioning and create compelling value propositions for clients.
- Analyze customer industries to ensure tailored and relevant market strategies.
Product and Service Solutions
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and product teams to deliver bespoke solutions aligned with fleet client needs.
- Ensure comprehensive support to clients including after-sales service, vehicle maintenance plans, and technical advice.
- Manage end-to-end technical coordination for client-specific configurations and problem-solving.
Cross-Cultural and International Business Management
- Understand and accommodate cultural nuances when dealing with multinational or diverse customer bases.
- Remain updated on international regulations impacting the automotive industry to ensure compliance in cross-border transactions.
- Leverage global resources to provide innovative and competitive solutions for South African clients.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze key customer data to identify trends, optimize sales tactics, and forecast demand.
- Utilize insights from market and feedback data to inform strategy and report outcomes to senior leadership.
- Prepare periodic reports on fleet sales performance, customer satisfaction, and strategic progress.
Teamwork and Internal Communication
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with departments such as marketing, after-sales, and logistics to align on customer needs.
- Act as the central point of contact for fleet customer feedback and ensure internal follow-up and action.
- Oversee and optimize internal resource planning for seamless customer service and delivery execution.
Risk Management and Problem Solving
- Proactively identify and manage customer-related risks including financial exposure and contractual breaches.
- Lead resolution of customer complaints and emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption and customer retention.
- Develop contingency plans for high-risk scenarios, including product issues or operational bottlenecks.
Performance Evaluation and Career Development
- Monitor and report on individual performance metrics tied to sales targets, customer KPIs, and market growth.
- Participate in continuous learning initiatives to enhance product knowledge, sales capabilities, and leadership skills.
- Align personal career goals with companies strategic objectives and seek growth opportunities within the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Automotive Engineering, or related field (MBA is advantageous).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fleet management, automotive sales, or B2B client management, preferably in the South African market.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale accounts and meeting ambitious sales targets.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Understanding of the South African automotive regulatory environment and government procurement processes.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis tools.
