A leading employment agency is seeking a Truck Maintenance Technician in Gauteng. The role involves conducting vehicle inspections, performing maintenance tasks, and ensuring trucks are roadworthy. Requirements : Must have the ability to read and write in EnglishAt least 2-4 years relative experience working with trucks or heavy-duty vehiclesBasic knowledge of diesel engines and vehicle maintenancePhysically fit and able to perform manual tasks (e.g.
truck cleaning, inspections)Attention to detail and ability to follow inspection checklists accuratelyAble to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environmentStrong sense of responsibility and reliability in handling company vehiclesWillingness to work outdoors and in varying weather conditionsValid drivers license (Code 10 or higher preferred, but not mandatory)Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules.
Required to be on standby and work overtime as neededPreferably someone who has their own transportationComputer literateKey Responsibilities : Conduct routine vehicle inspections on trucks to ensure they meet safety and operational standardsPerform quality checks and report any faults, damages, or maintenance needsMust have basic technical knowledge of trucks, including mechanical components and safety featuresMust be able to refuel trucks carefully and safelyAccurately record diesel and petrol usage for each refuelling sessionMaintain logs showing how much fuel was filled, for which specific truck and company vehicleMonitor fuel usage patterns and report any irregularities or possible wastagePerform cleaning and washing of trucks to ensure vehicles are kept in a presentable and roadworthy conditionAssist with pre-trip and post-trip inspections to identify any immediate issuesKeep the yard and vehicle area clean and organisedGood understanding of diesel usage and handlingFamiliarity with basic vehicle maintenance tasksAbility to work independently and follow a routine checklist
