A leading car rental company is seeking a Fleet Asset Manager to oversee the acquisition, movement, accounting, and disposal of its vehicle fleet.
The role focuses on ensuring optimal fleet utilisation, maintaining asset integrity, and supporting financial discipline through accurate record‑keeping and reporting.
The ideal candidate will have strong organisational and analytical skills, with experience in fleet management, asset control, and process optimisation.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage the fleet fixed asset register (cars and vehicles) : ensure all acquisitions, transfers, disposals, and movements are accurately captured.
- Issue and manage notices (registration renewals, license discs, roadworthy certificates) for each vehicle.
- Oversee the procurement / purchasing of new vehicles, replacement parts, and related asset purchases.
- Track depreciation, amortization, and write‑offs for vehicles; prepare period‑end reconciliations between asset register and general ledger.
- Conduct regular physical verification / audit of the fleet; ensure proper tagging, documentation, and accountability.
- Review incoming vehicles (new acquisitions), validate condition, and ensure they are added correctly to the register.
- Approve or review disposal of vehicles (sales, trade‑ins, write‑offs) and ensure all accounting entries and documentation are in order.
- Liaise with fleet operations, workshop, insurance, and finance teams to ensure seamless movement and utilisation of vehicles.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on fleet assets : utilisation metrics, life cycle costs, asset aging, and recommendations.
- Develop and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures for vehicle asset management.
- Support auditors (internal and external) by providing schedules, supporting documentation, and reconciliations.
- Provide analysis / insight to senior management on fleet capex, replacement timing, residual value, and investment decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (essential).
- 3+ years' experience in fixed asset accounting, ideally with exposure to managing vehicle fleets or transport assets.
- Strong understanding of asset accounting principles, IFRS (if applicable), depreciation methods, and asset disposals.
- Proficiency in Excel (advanced) and experience with accounting software.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high data accuracy.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with operations, finance, workshop, and external parties.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
Advantageous
experience in vehicle rental, leasing, fleet management, or transport industry.
