Job Description

Come join us as a Fixed -Term Drill Rig Operator to make a real impact by being part of the team that delivers quality work and support the full range of drill rigs used at Mogalakwena Complex.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Follow work instructions and orders.
  • Ensure proper understanding of the required actions and orders.
  • Operation Drillings and equipment to instructions
  • Effectively operate the Drilling to best practice standards and instructions
  • Apply recognized work, operations and safety standards.
  • Ensure that tasks are completed to required quality standards.
  • Conduct daily inspections prior to usage.
  • Monitor that the Drilling is maintained according to set schedule.
  • Identify any unexpected problems that could require higher level technical support to the Drill Rigs
  • Compile an accurate shift report.
  • Report to Drill Foreman when task complete.
  • Accompany Drill Foreman when inspecting completed task.
  • Assisting on Drill moves
  • Assisting on Cable Works
  • Assisting moves – drills hole to hole when assistance is not available.
  • Clean and wash when drills on Standby
  • Report any safety related grievances or issues to the safety rep or Drill Foreman
  • Ensure that any allocated support works together as a team while completing tasks.
  • Promote safety awareness by reminding team members to follow work procedures and identifying unsafe work practices.
  • Communicate process problems to necessary people.

This role is at a band 9 Level, reporting to the Drill Foreman.

Qualifications
  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
  • Valid Drill Rig Operator license

IMPORTANT: applications without qualification related attachments will not be considered.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • 1-3 years Drilling operation experience with certificates of competence for the drill rigs used in the operation.
