Job summary

Persona Staff in South Africa seeks an experienced maintenance technician to support induction ovens and furnaces through breakdowns, preventative maintenance, and project collaboration. The role requires a trade qualification and hands-on mechanical expertise in a manufacturing setting.

You will work independently and as part of a team, diagnosing faults, recording downtime, and contributing to continuous improvement while liaising with design and project engineers during commissioning.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / NSC and Section 13 Trade Test Certificate in Fitter and Turner.
• 3–5 years post-trade experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently and in a team under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Attend and resolve machine breakdowns promptly and report progress to Maintenance and Production teams.
• Record downtime duration and maintenance details on job cards.
• Perform weekly and monthly services on induction ovens and temper furnaces.
• Provide feedback to Design and liaise with Projects Engineer during commissioning.
• Support continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and checklists.
