Job summary

Staff Unlimited Recruitment is seeking a qualified Fitter & Turner to join the day-shift maintenance team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will inspect, perform preventative maintenance and repair processing plant machinery.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with power tools and hydraulic machinery, plus a solid mechanical maintenance background and the ability to work independently or as part of a maintenance team while adhering to health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Qualified Fitter & Turner with a trade qualification / Trade Test.
• Experience in a maintenance environment with hydraulic machinery.
• Strong practical experience using power tools.
• Good communication and health and safety commitment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily equipment and machinery checks
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance
• Attend to and repair mechanical breakdowns
• Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic faults
• Maintain and repair processing plant equipment
• Work with a variety of power tools and hand tools
• Carry out repairs, adjustments and replacements as required
• Assist with maintaining machinery to ensure maximum plant availability
• Identify potential equipment failures and address them proactively
• Maintain accurate maintenance records
• Follow all company health and safety procedures
• Ensure work is completed efficiently and to the required standard

Our client is looking for a qualified Fitter & Turner to join their day-shift maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily inspection, preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs of processing plant machinery.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience working with power tools and hydraulic machinery, together with a solid mechanical maintenance background.

Job Location: Cape Town

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified Fitter & Turner - ESSENTIAL
• Relevant trade qualification / Trade Test
• Proven experience in a maintenance environment
• Experience working with hydraulic machinery
• Strong practical experience using power tools
• Experience with industrial processing plant machinery will be highly advantageous
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical faults and carry out breakdown repairs
• Good understanding of preventative maintenance practices
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team
• Good communication skills
• Strong commitment to health and safety
