Job description

We grow what matters! RCL Foods is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join our Baking Division based in Spartan.

This position reports to the Maintenance Foreman.

Minimum Requirements

1. N3 & Matric
2. Qualified fitter trade AND proof of full apprentice program
3. Basic Electrical experience will be an advantage
4. Knowledge in mixers, dividers, proofers, and packaging equipment
5. Oven burners and bakery equipment
6. Ability to communicate on all levels
7. Ability to work systematically
8. Ability to prioritize workload
9. Report writing and analysis
10. Must be able to rotate on callouts and standby duties

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the machines do not deteriorate.
2. Plan and execute major services on baking equipment - ability to rebuild equipment.
3. Inspect drives, motors, belts, bearings, replace filters and perform other maintenance actions following CMMS (Onkey).
4. Be able to comply with Food safety standards, and previous FMCG experience will be an advantage.
5. Assemble, install and/or repair pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment on steam and waterlines.
6. Ensure that your department complies with all Health and Safety requirements.
7. Diagnose and correct mechanical problems.
8. Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions.
9. Direct and train workers to install and maintain mechanical equipment.
10. Record maintenance and repair work performed.
11. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
12. Projects and machine installations.
