Job summary

Greys Recruitment is seeking a qualified Fitter with a Red Seal Trade Test to assemble, maintain and fault-find on hydraulic systems in both industrial and mobile applications, based in Port Elizabeth / Uitenhage, Eastern Cape. The ideal candidate has a Post‑Matric qualification (N3), can read hydraulic drawings, and understands hydraulic and mechanical fault-finding.

Strong customer service, teamwork, and the ability to work under pressure are essential, with overtime and travel as required.

Job description

Location: Gqeberha, Eastern Cape Our client is seeking a qualified Fitter who is passionate about customer service and has a strong interest in assembling, maintaining and fault-finding on hydraulic systems in both industrial and mobile applications. The successful candidate will be eager to learn, develop their technical skills and contribute effectively as part of a team.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation.
• Perform diagnostic tests on functioning machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Conduct fault-finding on hydraulic systems.
• Repair and replace equipment and components as required.
• Commission hydraulic systems and equipment.
• Read, interpret and understand hydraulic circuits.
• Apply sound technical knowledge of mobile and industrial hydraulic systems.
• Provide professional customer service and technical support.
• Work effectively as part of a team and under pressure.
• Participate in overtime, standby duties and occasional travel as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Post-Matric qualification or N3.
• Qualified Fitter with a Red Seal Trade Test – essential.
• Proven experience as a Fitter or in a similar technical role.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with hydraulic systems will be a strong advantage.
• Sound knowledge of mobile and industrial hydraulic systems.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer-service orientation.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Valid Code 8 driver's licence.
• Medically fit to perform the duties of the position.
