Responsibilities
Planned and Predictive Maintenance
- Implement actions and sequences associated with maintaining machinery functionality.
- Schedule workload to meet priorities and targets.
- Ensure adherence to maintenance cycles and complete job cards on time to meet KPI targets.
- Inspect equipment to identify hazards, defects, and compliance issues.
- Test electrical systems for safety and functionality.
- Isolate, remove, and replace defective components safely.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs for maintenance and repairs.
- Investigate and analyze equipment modifications and improvements.
- Identify areas needing attention and quickly diagnose causes of downtime or breakdowns.
Health, Safety and Environment
- Comply with environmental and risk policies and procedures.
- Minimize accidents and incidents.
- Adhere to Occupational Health & Safety Act and internal policies.
- Aim for zero disabling injuries.
Mechanical Plant and Machinery
- Ensure installation and safety procedures are followed.
- Inspect and sign off new equipment installations.
- Read and interpret drawings and work orders.
- Perform maintenance and installation activities correctly.
- Set up, adjust, dismantle, repair, and assemble mechanical parts and tools.
- Operate machines for manufacturing parts or tools.
- Inspect work prior to commissioning and communicate findings.
Fault Finding and Repairs
- Troubleshoot and fault find efficiently.
- Restore functionality with minimal production disruption.
Corporate Governance
- Work within governance systems and principles.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Comply with the company's code of ethics and legal requirements.
- Work with integrity.
Qualifications
- Matric (Grade 12)
- National Certificate: Mechanical Engineering: Fitting Level 3
- Completed apprenticeship and passed Mechanical Engineering: Fitting or Millwright Trade Test
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a mechanical environment
