Introduction

To manage and deliver defined operational processes within the agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA) and effectively manage cost through operational excellence.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the delivery of team goals through relevant scorecards as per the strategy using the INVOCOM methodology.
  2. Contribute to and execute the business unit's 1-year operating plan, budget, and scorecard with a focus on continuous improvement.
  3. Build, integrate, and maintain relationships with all stakeholders in line with SLAs to achieve operational excellence (e.g., Transport, Trunking, Cross-Docking, Equipment centre).
  4. Manage end-to-end process compliance (e.g., receiving, picking, dispatch, inventory) against documented standards within the area of responsibility.
  5. Optimize resource use and plan all variable assets for operational excellence (e.g., staffing FTEs, scanners, technology equipment, consumables).
  6. Adhere to company policies and procedures in line with corporate governance principles.
  7. Ensure timely delivery of accurate reporting and administrative tasks for transactional excellence.
  8. Lead, develop, and foster a high-performance culture through leadership, feedback, guidance, support, and coaching.
  9. Demonstrate leadership aligned with Woolworths Values to meet operational scorecard targets.
  10. Support the delivery of the Business Unit's EE targets.
  11. Manage performance, talent development, succession planning, and recognition initiatives.
  12. Handle employee relations in accordance with sound principles and strategy.
  13. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and legislation (e.g., OHASA, SHE Acts).
  14. Possess knowledge of logistics and distribution processes, supply chain operations, and stakeholder impact.
  15. Maintain PC literacy for reporting and data management.
  16. Manage consumables and assets effectively.
  17. Understand process compliance and relevant legislation.
  18. Work across different temperature regimes (e.g., Cold Chain, Frozen areas).
  19. Develop an understanding of suppliers and service providers, demonstrating a passion for customer delivery.
  20. Recognize the impact of your role on service delivery to internal and external customers.
  21. Maintain a customer service mindset.
  22. Knowledge of Performance Management Systems and Employee Relations procedures.
  23. Work under pressure with attention to detail and flexibility as per business needs.
Other Job Requirements
Knowledge & Education
  • Matric/Grade 12 certificate is mandatory.
  • A three-year Supply Chain or Operations Management degree or equivalent NQF level 6 qualification is mandatory.
Experience
  • Relevant management or supervisory training.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant Supply Chain management experience.
  • Experience in Retail/FMCG is advantageous.
  • Quality assurance background (e.g., Six Sigma) is advantageous.
