Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct Firearm Compliance Audits based on the Firearms Control Act, Regulations, and BPC Policy and Procedures at Head Office, Regional Offices, Branches, and all sites (including subsites and vehicles).
  • Perform Risk Assessments on security measures at all locations.
  • Carry out Safe Inspections to ensure compliance with legislation; all new sites must meet legal requirements before firearms are issued.
  • Ensure firearms are in proper working condition, free of defects, and report any unserviceable firearms to the NDFO.
  • Audit new sites for compliance prior to firearm issuance.
  • Analyze and recommend firearm equipment and accessories needed for operations.
  • Facilitate and provide training on relevant processes and legal requirements.
  • Compile reports on audit findings, risk assessments, and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and improve systems related to Firearm Legislation and BPC Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure disciplinary compliance and recommend disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Assist in managing departmental information and activities, including setting up administrative systems, work schedules, and resource organization.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with clients and the public, establishing a network of contacts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid SAPS Competency Certificate with qualifications in Handgun, Shotgun, Self-loading rifle, and/or carbine, and knowledge of the Firearms Control Act.
  • Completion of 21 training on the above firearms and legal knowledge.
  • Experience in firearm compliance audits and report writing.
  • Experience in firearms and asset stock control is advantageous.
  • Quality Control and compliance certification is an advantage.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role is advantageous.
