Job summary

Communicate Recruitment in Johannesburg is seeking a Fire Engineer to design fire protection systems in line with SANS, ASIB, NFPA and FM standards. You will develop sprinkler, rational fire and smoke ventilation designs and carry out assessments across multiple project stages.

The role requires a degree in Fire/Mechanical Engineering, ECSA eligibility, and hands-on CAD experience with AutoCAD and Revit. You will collaborate with other disciplines, prepare drawings, manage tenders and support

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience in fire protection design.
• Strong knowledge of SANS standards, especially SANS 10400-T.
• Experience with sprinkler design and fire protection systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• ECSA registration or eligibility advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design fire protection systems per standards.
• Develop sprinkler, rational fire and smoke ventilation designs.
• Apply SANS 10400-T, BS 7974 and international standards.
• Perform ASET/RSET assessments and performance-based designs.
• Produce drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and FHC Canute.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and support construction phases.

Skills & Experience:

Minimum 3 5 years' of experience Strong knowledge of SANS standards , particularly SANS 10400-T Experience with sprinkler and fire protection design Knowledge of rational fire engineering and smoke ventilation Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit ; FHC Canute experience is advantageous HVAC experience would be an added advantage, but is not essential

Qualification:

Degree/BTech in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field ECSA registration or eligibility for registration is advantageous
