Job summary

AES Global is seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer in South Africa to help build and scale the systems behind our fintech funding products for SMEs. You’ll own substantial parts of the stack in a small, hands-on team and influence architecture and delivery.

The role focuses on Python, FastAPI/Flask, Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Docker, and AWS, with emphasis on scalable cloud-based designs, testing, and agile collaboration. Hybrid model based in Cape Town.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in full-stack software development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in Python (FastAPI/Flask), Next.js/React, TypeScript and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Docker and containerised systems.
• Experience designing scalable, cloud-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain web applications using Python (FastAPI or Flask), Next.js and TypeScript.
• Build and maintain databases in PostgreSQL.
• Leverage AWS to deploy and manage applications, and optimise for scalability and performance.
• Contribute to scalable system architecture and integrate new AI/ML capabilities where they add value.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests, and troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems.
• Work in an agile, cross-functional team and document what you build.
