Key Performance Areas:

Ensure overall implementation and maintenance of HSE measures in the work area:

  1. Actively contribute to creating a safe working environment
  2. Ensure discipline and compliance amongst team and sub-contractors
  3. Issue NCR’s where required to correct and prevent non-conformances
  4. Report all incidents and near misses to their Line Manager and HSE Officer
  5. Ensure housekeeping practices are maintained
  6. Attend fortnightly HSE meetings
  7. Conduct weekly toolbox talks with team
  8. Complete required checklists and registers as per legal appointments
  9. Actively contribute to achieving Site Specific HSE objectives and targets

Taking complete responsibility and accountability for the overall quality compliance of all areas under his/her control:

  1. Extensive knowledge of the project and product specifications
  2. Complete comprehension of the company quality system as well as the associated compliance documentation i.e. project quality plans, quality control plans, work instructions and associated checklists and registers
  3. Constantly assuring and comparing activities against the area specifications
  4. Completion of documentation as contemplated by quality control plans and relevant checklists
  5. Raising NCRS
  6. Active participation with project team in terms of the effectiveness of control measures

Execute the project plan and programme:

  1. Execute the works in accordance within the project contract program provided by the Contracts Manager/Site Agent
  2. Study the project method statement to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project and the construction process, materials to be used and sequencing of works
  3. Study and understand the project drawings and details prior to commencing the works to gain an in-depth understanding of the project, project layout, project requirements and details
  4. Implement the programme, project and project details and requirements as per the sequence of the works
  5. Know the interim completion dates, the practical, works and final completion dates
  6. Setout, monitor and manage sequence of the works within his/her section of works, ensuring a logical sequence of works and minimising abortive works or re-works
  7. Order materials timeously, works out a delivery schedule, maintains a record of all materials in stock and ensures that stock controls are in place
  8. Allocate areas for delivery of materials on site and optimise storage. Monitors the removal of materials, tools or equipment off site; ensure no materials are allowed off site without the signature of the Site Agent
  9. Ensure that all plant, particularly hired plant, is used effectively and returned promptly
  10. Supply information to resolve disputes if they arise

Drive the construction process on site:

  1. Oversee all activities of work pertaining to wet trades preparation, placement, installation, finishing and curing
  2. Study all wet trades drawings and plans to ensure that all finishing and specialist trades are accurately set out and built as per construction drawings, details & specifications
  3. Consistently manage subcontractors across all functions in order to mitigate risk to the project and business and increase profits
  4. Identify and recommend opportunities for profit enhancement / waste reduction using value engineering principles where possible
  5. Proactively drive progress of the works, challenging methods to maximise progress and minimize costs
  6. Recommends measures to improve production methods and equipment performance to increase efficiency, safety and reduce wastage

Supervise workforce, people development and healthy industrial relations:

  1. Supervise approved subcontractors, own workforce, monitors their progress and take appropriate action to address underperformance
  2. Reporting and ensure that the Site Supervisor is informed of progress and activities on site
  3. Ensure that the Supervisor is kept informed of progress and activities on site
  4. Providing information to supervisors, peers and subordinates in terms of site activities
  5. Develop and help construction staff and peers in area of expertise by sharing information, knowledge and best practices to achieve team goals
  6. Maintain up to date technical knowledge and participates in planned activities that are appropriate for own development
  7. Supervise own and sub-contractors' labour and implements the company’s disciplinary code and procedures when necessary; escalate serious issues
  8. Monitor and enforce working hours for own and sub-contractor labour and completes and submit accurate daily time sheets
  9. Contribute to team success by ensuring team commitment and cohesion; value individual contributions and shows respect for others
  10. Respect diversity and encourages an environment that values collaboration and inclusivity

Customer / Stakeholder Management:

  1. Maintain professional relationships with client, consultants, subcontractor and supplier stakeholders
  2. Ensure team conduct in accordance with brand and company standard
  3. Ensure team performance contributes to positive customer experience and customer satisfaction metrics
