Job summary

You will mentor staff, coordinate maintenance, and maintain production records. A National Senior Certificate and 3–5 years’ supervisory experience are preferred to support continuous improvement and efficient factory operations.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ proven experience in a similar role.
• Operating conventional milling and turning machines.
• Interpreting engineering drawings.
• Quality management and production coordination.
• Supervising employees and managing workflow.
• Maintaining production equipment and machinery.
• Health and safety regulations knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all employees and activities within the Parts Finishing Department.
• Plan workflow, allocate resources and ensure production targets and deadlines are met.
• Liaise with other foremen and the Production Manager regarding departmental objectives and requirements.
• Ensure machinery is operated correctly and company policies and procedures are followed.
• Mentor and train employees and assist with finishing processes when required.
• Compile, maintain and implement preventative maintenance schedules for factory machinery and equipment.
• Conduct scheduled and ad hoc maintenance as required.
• Inspect incoming products for accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor finishing processes to ensure compliance with client specifications.
• Conduct regular quality control checks throughout production.
• Identify and resolve quality issues promptly.
• Enforce quality standards and health and safety precautions.
• Complete Work Orders and production reports accurately and timeously.
• Maintain detailed records to ensure quality control and traceability.
• Monitor and report on production progress.
• Communicate potential problems to relevant departments and management.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area.
• Dispose of waste and recycle materials according to company policies.
• Train new employees on machinery and operating procedures and assist with other operational duties as required.
