Job description

The Finance Manager leads a team of finance professionals to support the company in balancing customer credit needs against the company’s credit exposure. The role involves developing and implementing a Finance Value Proposition tailored to the respective market, with the potential to develop into a Chief Finance Director / Finance Director role in the future.

This position has a significant financial impact on the business and is responsible for all aspects of the Credit & Collection function, including developing and implementing credit and collections policies, managing credit default risks, and communicating & training the organization in credit policy decisions. The role is based in South Africa for two years, followed by an international development assignment.

What does the role involve?

As the Finance Manager, you will translate company strategy into departmental targets, set ambitious goals, and hold yourself and your team accountable for delivering results. You will ensure customer satisfaction through onsite visits, timely complaint resolution, and credit adjustments within approval guidelines. You will lead strategic projects, including digitalization of processes and creating value-added financial services.

Operationally, you will oversee the internal control system, internal audits, compliance checks, cash collection, credit applications, and payment allocations. You will monitor external risks and opportunities with Finance Business Partners and support Finance IT in process improvements.

You will lead by example, collaborating with sales management to resolve customer credit and payment issues, and develop leadership within your team. You will challenge the status quo, monitor external trends, and translate insights into organizational strategies to ensure agility and value creation.

What you need is:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree in Business, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years in Credit & Collection or related finance roles within a multinational
  • Leadership and people management experience
  • Proficient in English (written and verbal)
  • Ability to influence and interact with stakeholders
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and strong MS Office skills
  • Cultural awareness and adaptive leadership style
  • Business acumen, proactive, conceptual thinking
  • Passion for developing people
  • Willingness for continuous learning
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to travel internationally
