Group Financial Manager

The Group Financial Manager is responsible for planning and directing financial accounting, budgeting, auditing, cash management, and other fiscal operations and functions.

This includes directing staff activities in maintaining, analyzing, and reporting financial accounting data, developing appropriate accounting systems, establishing necessary financial controls, approving various expenditures and obligations, planning and coordinating internal and external audits, and ensuring all activities conform to statutory legislation (incl. IFRS, Taxation Regulations, and other applicable legislation) and company policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Establish, build and maintain the financial monthly and annual reporting packs (management accounts)
  2. Reconcile the Management Accounts to the Monthly Ledgers (P&L to month AFS)
  3. Planning and directing financial accounting strategies along with CFO
  4. Establish a migration strategy from Xero to our next accounting system
  5. Establish succession and build successor for role
  6. Support regional CFO in P&L format, design and account mappings
  7. Identify and solve software strategic direction
  8. Budgeting LabourNet Group (HOF, Regions and Products, Cost of sales, Opex and Capex)
  9. Assist on audit direction and management assumptions
  10. Cash management and other fiscal operations and functions
  11. Maintaining, analyzing and reporting financial accounting data
  12. Developing appropriate accounting systems (Xero / Corporate Planning and monthly reporting packs)
  13. Establishing necessary financial controls
  14. Approving various expenditures and obligations within budget (Capex, Opex)
  15. Planning and coordinating internal and external audits
  16. Ensuring all activities conform to statutory legislation (incl. IFRS, Taxation Regulations, CIPC and other applicable legislation) and company policies and procedures
  17. Capitalization of the Development and platform team costs
  18. Spotlight and DraftWorx reporting for the group
  19. B/S Compliance and bank covenant management
  20. Management account Reviews for the group before the Interim release to CFO and regions
  21. Insurance compliance and the tenders for the company (Handle full insurance renewals and compliance)
  22. Cashflow predictions and analyzing the projections
  23. Nedbank Funding for the group and relationship management
  24. Test of controls for the entire group and ensuring the effectiveness
  25. Ratio analysis for the entire group
  26. Approval of the bad debts write off (IFRS9)
  27. Board Packs for the JV's and the dividends calculations
  28. LabourNet partner Meeting (Board presentation packs financials)
  29. Processing Mapping for the entire company financial processes and systems
  30. Revenue completeness and revenue growth (Accountable)
  31. Support and oversee the Financial Manager – Operations and Statutory Finance
  32. Strategy and structure of the finance team (Reporting / Culture / Values, etc)
  33. Sign-off all financial policies and procedures with other Financial Manager
  34. AFS for the group and individual companies (Establish internally generated financial statements)
  35. Fixed assets compliance (policies and processes oversee)
  36. Internal customer receive accurate, timeous information, enabling them to make informed financial business decisions
  37. Oversee and Support Financial Accounts with Annual Audits
  38. Oversee compliance Product and IT budgets
  39. Support CFO on revenue budgets and COS budgets with HR
  40. Manage Trial balance sign-off Monthly
  41. Manage FM output and timely reporting
  42. Sign-off quarterly B/Sheet recons
  43. Manage the Management Accounts and present to CFO performance dashboards
  44. Xero system owner and proper account structures (VAT, Classifications, Mapping)
  45. Budgeting Annual Budget completion (Regional sessions, Head Office and Group) (Oct – Nov)
  46. Cash flow projection report completed annually
  47. Weekly, monthly and Annual
  48. Monthly variance reports (major cost analysis)
  49. Budget forecasting reports completed annually
  50. Regional / Product Analysis sign off
  51. Vat reconciliation oversee & release on bank
  52. Trial Balance reconciliation sign-off for audit readiness
  53. Quarterly support to Accountants
  54. B/S Reviews quarterly and Yearend 31 December within 10 working days from 31 Dec annually
  55. Dividend Distributions sign-off
  56. Statutory provisions (TAX / WHT / ETC)
  57. Monthly MFRs
  58. Financial packs forwarded to CFO
  59. JV's Board packs
  60. Audit readiness
  61. Revenue completeness checks with Operational FM
  62. Revenue growth reports (accuracy) analyse and present to CFO
  63. Payroll oversee (journals & recons) – Salary splits, journals sign-off (non-routine)
  64. Test of control effectiveness
  65. Cash-flow management
  66. Accurate and timeous monthly and 3 monthly cash flow scenarios provided
  67. Company meets cash flow requirements without fail
  68. Monthly expense variance
  69. Debt covenants
  70. Cashflow projections
  71. Development of Financial Managers to be successor
  72. Develop Financial Manager on reporting to enable growth
  73. Process writing
  74. Training of finance as a whole
  75. Technical courses
  76. Test of controls
  77. Process writing
  78. Blue printing of finance department
  79. Training in contracts
  80. Audits (internal & external)
  81. Contract with the relevant auditing firm and timeously set the timelines
  82. Annual audit conducted by no later than within 3 months of year end
  83. Applicable financial corporate governance requirements identified and actioned
  84. Other: In charge of finance as a whole
  85. Training as a whole for the finance team
  86. Any Adhoc reporting or assignments from CFO / Board
  87. Streamlining financial reporting processes / automation and assisting CFO with data flow mapping
  88. Tax Planning
  89. Building professional working relationships with the business partners and regional managers
  90. Ensuring Finance department drives business value add into all processes and interactions

Desired Experience & Qualification

  1. CA(SA) or CIMA Designation is required
  2. Advanced MS Office (Excel, Word, BI, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  3. Valid Driver's License and own vehicle
  4. 5 years + financial system exposure on reporting and ledger management
  5. Extensive Report building experience required (Excel and other BI tools)
  6. Experience required: 5 years in a financial reporting experience at data consolidation level
  7. Advanced knowledge IFRS and IFRS SME
  8. Experience managing diverse finance roles (Report Building / Group Management Accounts / Systems Migration)
  9. Advanced budgeting skills (Cost Centre, Regions, Products, Capex and Cashflow)
  10. Ability to handle mass volume of data (17 regions x 8 products x 13 legal entities time 6 classification fields)
  11. Advanced knowledge of financial reporting packs (Management Accounts and excel / BI tools)
  12. Corporate Financial Planning and analysis (bank relations, cash flow and ratio management)
  13. Experience in presenting and building financial dashboards
  14. Experience with requirements of a system migration and integrations
  15. Leadership skills managing finance and budgets
  16. Strategic, creative and analytical thinking
  17. Must be a problem solver (implement, track and roll out changes within finance)
  18. Computer literacy must be advance on Excel and BI tools (non-negotiable) – Will be tested
  19. Financial and accounting skills (Must be first time pass on Board / CTA and excellent academic record)
  20. In-depth Knowledge of the financial operations and processes
  21. Strong financial systems knowledge (Xero or SAGE Intacct)
  22. Exceptional Process writing and control environment setup
  23. Must have a proven record within finance and understanding of strategic finance models
