The role emphasizes governance, robust controls, and accurate financial statements with exposure to multi‑jurisdictional Africa funds. You will work with the Head of Finance and investment colleagues to optimise reporting

Qualifications

• CA(SA) qualified and registered to practice in SA.
• Minimum of 5 years post-qualification (PQE) experience in financial reporting or fund services.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS financial reporting standards and related governance.
• Proven experience managing external audits and liaising with diverse stakeholders.
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting systems.

We are seeking a 5 years PQE CA(SA) to join our client, a specialised investment advisory firm, in their Finance team based in Cape Town as a Financial Reporting Accountant. This role supports the financial management and reporting across the client's group entities and private equity funds, offering direct exposure to a sophisticated, multi-jurisdictional private equity environment across Africa.Working closely with the Head of Finance, investment professionals, fund administrators, external auditors, and institutional investors, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust governance, and seamless fund operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and review IFRS-compliant financial statements and comprehensive management reports.
• Investor & Audit Oversight: Support investor reporting, external audits, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Governance & Controls: Maintain robust financial controls and governance standards across group and fund structures.
• Fund Accounting: Assist with fund accounting activities, including capital events, treasury/cash flow management, and capital calls/distributions.
• Compliance: Support tax, legal, and regulatory compliance across multiple African and international jurisdictions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with investment and operational teams on financial, valuation, and fund-related matters.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to finance system enhancements, process optimisation, and best-practice reporting frameworks.

Requirements

• Strong, up-to-date knowledge of IFRS financial reporting standards
• Demonstrated experience managing external audits and working with diverse stakeholders
• Advanced Excel skills and strong capability with financial reporting systems
• Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Advantageous: Direct private equity or venture capital fund accounting experience
• Exposure to multi-jursidictional entity and fund structures across Africa
• Familiarity with platforms such as Xero, Investran or specialised fund accounting software
