Job description

Sanlam Developing Markets (SDM), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited, is a leading financial services provider in the South African entry-level and emerging middle market. We aim to understand the unique requirements of clients and offer a wide range of simple and affordable financial solutions, including funeral insurance, savings for education, life cover, and personal accident plans.

The purpose of the role is to provide new and existing clients with professional and relevant financial advice, planning, and products (sales) that are suited to their needs. Responsibilities include procuring sustainable business of high quality, maintaining and servicing clients to build loyalty to the brand, and ensuring compliance and ethical practices.

What will make you successful in this role?

1. Assist in growing the Sanlam Adviser Business

  • Commit to the marketing plans and targets set for business growth.
  • Apply knowledge of market segmentation and customer profiles to support sales and growth.

Undertake relevant behaviours to attain targets relating to:

  • Revenue generation.
  • Activity quotas.
  • Promoting the Sanlam brand.
  • Treating customers fairly in all engagements.

2. Networking, prospecting and leads generation

  • Engage in face-to-face interactions to create business opportunities.
  • Prospect new clients through business/social networks and presentations.
  • Strengthen existing relationships and identify marketing gaps.
  • Utilize social media for marketing and lead generation.

3. Client consultations and sales

  • Ensure client interactions are compliant with disclosures and advice.
  • Conduct comprehensive fact-finding and financial needs analysis.
  • Provide sound personal financial planning advice and solutions.
  • Review client portfolios annually.

4. Client Service

  • Ensure all client interactions are ethical and professional.
  • Strive for excellent service to retain clients.
  • Maintain long-term client relationships.

5. Monitor, update and reporting (weekly/monthly)

Document and present activities including:

  • Number and profile of contacts and consultations.
  • Issued business and revenue against targets.
  • Client details and activity monitor system entries.
Qualification and Experience

Grade 12.

FAIS "Fit and Proper" requirements and Regulatory Examination completed if registered with FSCA for more than 24 months.
