What will you do?

The role's purpose is to provide new and existing clients with professional and relevant financial advice, planning, and products (sales) suited to their needs. You will undertake the procurement of sustainable, high-quality business aligned with set targets. Maintaining and servicing these clients as part of a long-term relationship will build loyalty and generate ongoing advice and sales. All activities should be conducted within a compliant and ethical framework, supporting the growth of the Sanlam Group business and brand.

What will make you successful in this role?

1. Assist in growing the Sanlam Adviser Business

  • Commit to marketing plans and targets for business growth as per the distribution strategy.
  • Utilize knowledge of market segmentation and customer profiles to support sales and growth within the defined market.

Focus on activities related to:

  • Revenue generation (single and recurring premiums)
  • Achieving activity quotas
  • Promoting the Sanlam brand
  • Applying fair treatment of customers in all interactions
  • Aligning the role with personal career aspirations

2. Networking, prospecting, and lead generation

  • Engage in face-to-face interactions to create business opportunities.
  • Prospect new clients through creative avenues like networks, associations, or presentations.
  • Convert trusted relationships into business relationships.
  • Enhance existing relationships by increasing service levels.
  • Leverage existing sources for opportunities within Sanlam's various businesses.
  • Create personalized client value propositions.
  • Market on social media platforms.
  • Undertake activities to generate leads and prospects.
  • Identify marketing gaps and sales opportunities within the middle-high and affluent markets by mining existing client data.
  • Implement targeted campaigns with new or existing clients.
  • Request ongoing leads and referrals.
  • Monitor client activities like maturities, cancellations, or surrenders within the defined market.

3. Client consultations and sales

  • Ensure all client interactions are compliant, with proper disclosures and advice.
  • Conduct comprehensive fact-finding to understand client needs and document findings.
  • Perform financial needs analysis using relevant tools or systems, or involve a Para-Planner.
  • Provide sound financial planning advice.
  • Develop balanced portfolios that meet client needs.
  • Present solutions professionally, aligned with fair customer treatment principles.
  • Use systems to record and update client analysis and information.
  • Review client portfolios annually following the above steps.

4. Client Service

  • Maintain ethical, courteous, and professional interactions.
  • Follow up on or refer business queries for prompt resolution.
  • Strive to deliver excellent, value-added service to retain clients.
  • Engage in continuous learning to better serve clients.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships.

5. Monitoring, updating, and reporting (weekly/monthly)

Document and present activities such as:

  • Number and profile of contacts, appointments, consultations
  • Business issued and revenue against targets
  • Client details updates
  • Workflow and activity system entries

Qualifications and Experience

Grade 12; Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS) 'Fit and Proper' requirements; Regulatory Examination success; registration with FSCA for over 24 months preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

Financial advice, support, target achievement, compliance, client management, and financial planning.
