Job description

Red Ember Recruitment is looking for a responsible Financial Officer Manager to oversee the financial health of an organization, promoting success and growth while ensuring compliance with legal financial practices. The role involves financial planning, bookkeeping, reviewing financial documents for tax compliance, and collaborating with various departments to achieve monetary goals for our client.

Scope of the Position :

  1. Capture, analyze, and present monthly accounts for the client, and prepare accounts for annual audits.
  2. Work directly with the CEO, Accounts Administrator, HR Coordinator, Fundraising Team, and the Treasurer of the Board of Directors.
  3. Track donor financial reports and provide reports to donors and stakeholders.
  4. Submit VAT returns and reports to SARS bi-monthly.
  5. Prepare the annual budget.
  6. Financial reporting: Prepare and present balance sheets, cash flow statements, and profit and loss statements.
  7. Financial planning: Maintain financial policies and procedures.
  8. Budgeting and forecasting: Create, monitor, and update budgets and forecasts for senior management.
  9. Cash flow management: Oversee client cash flow and ensure proper fund allocation.
  10. Risk management: Manage risks through insurance, hedging, and other financial instruments.
  11. Financial record management: Ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance of financial transactions and documentation.
  12. Strategic insights: Analyze financial data and provide recommendations.
  13. Cross-functional collaboration: Align financial goals with overall business objectives.

Main Responsibilities :

  1. Monthly financial management, including data entry into QuickBooks, bank reconciliations, petty cash, community expenses, and credit card expenses.
  2. Prepare monthly payroll schedules and oversee leave schedules with HR.
  3. Analyze municipal accounts, Nedfleet statements, salaries, and other creditor accounts monthly.
  4. Update asset registers and depreciation monthly.
  5. Produce monthly financial reports and comprehensive management financial reports by the 15th of each month.
  6. Handle VAT submissions, project financial reports, and other donor reports as scheduled.
  7. Oversee annual returns, employment equity reports, and prepare year-end accounts for audit.
  8. Assist with budget preparation and other financial duties as required.

Requirements :

  • BCom Degree or equivalent in accounting or bookkeeping.
  • Minimum of ten years relevant experience.
  • No criminal record; Police Clearance required.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Plus, SARS e-filing, and auditing preparations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector is an advantage.
  • Driver's license and own vehicle.

Hours :

This is a full-time day position, Monday to Friday, with hybrid working options. At least 3 mornings in the office are expected. Primary office locations are in Benoni and Bryanston, with travel to Benoni once a week if working from Bryanston.

Education :

BCom Degree or equivalent tertiary diploma in accounting or bookkeeping.
