Job description

Our client, a prominent brand name and a market leader in their business segment, is seeking to appoint an experienced Financial Manager to their Port Elizabeth team. This is a senior appointment reporting to the plant General Manager.

+3 years Financial Managerial experience in a manufacturing environment will secure.

Requirements:

• At least 3 years managerial experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Be strong on controls.
• Have a very good understanding of Costing.
• Have excellent IFRS knowledge.
• Be able to meet tight deadlines.
• JDE/ABACA system knowledge would be advantageous.

Responsibilities, but not limited to:

• Ensured effective management of Risk, Safety, and Quality through risk assessments, implementation and oversight of behavior-based safety programs, task analysis, and quality management to promote zero tolerance for unsafe acts and to maintain acceptable levels of safety incidents.
• Ensured sound financial management of the department by accurate forecasting and the implementation of cost-saving initiatives.
• Built, maintained, and managed strong customer and supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery from suppliers and high levels of customer satisfaction, including with internal and external stakeholders such as auditors, legal representatives, and bankers.
• Developed, implemented, and managed annual financial and operational plans, as well as project plans aligned with the strategic objectives of the organization.
• Developed medium-term business plans.
• Provided accurate monthly financial information to internal and external stakeholders and ensured that reconciliations were completed correctly.
• Developed, implemented, and managed continuous improvement projects, as well as process improvement, optimization, and legal compliance initiatives to ensure quality outputs and cost savings.
• Ensured monthly, quarterly, and annual departmental reporting, including updates on stakeholder relations, business progress, and strategic planning.
• Built and maintained a competent and motivated workforce by managing performance, conflict resolution, and employee development within the department.
• Ensured a stable and reliable IT platform.
• Managed the procurement process.
• Ensured effective internal controls were in place and functioning properly.
