Reporting to : Head of / – Online Gaming Division

Overview

The Financial Manager will oversee the financial operations of the online gaming platform, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective support for the growth of the online gaming business. The role requires a Chartered (CA (SA)) with strong commercial acumen, analytical skills, and proven experience in gaming, sports betting, or related industries.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Management & Reporting
    • Prepare, review, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS.
    • Oversee general ledger integrity, reconciliations, and transaction accuracy.
    • Develop and maintain internal financial controls and processes.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Lead the annual budgeting process and provide rolling forecasts for the business.
    • Monitor and analyse variances, providing insights and corrective action plans.
    • Support strategic decision-making with scenario planning and business modelling.
  • Regulatory & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with the National Gambling Board, provincial regulators, and all statutory requirements related to online gaming.
    • Liaise with internal and external auditors and manage audit processes.
    • Oversee compliance with tax regulations (VAT, corporate tax, gaming levies).
  • Cash Flow & Treasury
    • Manage daily cash flow requirements and optimise working capital.
    • Monitor payment gateways, settlement processes, and transactional reconciliations.
    • Implement risk management strategies to safeguard financial assets.
  • Business Partnering
    • Work closely with operations, marketing, and technology teams to evaluate promotions, campaigns, and new product launches.
    • Provide financial insight to support growth, customer acquisition, and retention strategies.
    • Prepare financial business cases for investment in technology and platform enhancements.
  • Team Leadership
    • Manage, mentor, and develop the finance team.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Chartered Accountant (CA (SA)) – essential.
  • Minimum 2–4 years’ post-articles experience in a corporate finance, hospitality, online gaming, or sports betting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African taxation.
  • Experience in online transactions, payment systems, and reconciliations advantageous.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modelling; ERP systems knowledge (SAP, Oracle, or similar) preferred.
