Job description

Our client, a highly respected corporate group, is seeking an experienced Financial Manager to join their team. Reporting directly to the Financial Director, you will take charge of the financial function, overseeing a team of accountants and assistant accountants with their respective teams.

This role requires a strong leader with a solid track record in financial management, strategic oversight, and ensuring compliance with corporate governance and reporting standards.

This role is well-suited for a strategic, hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic and operationally focused environment.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Hands-on taxation experience is essential; you don't need to be an absolute tax expert, but you must have personally handled tax matters before as this role requires prior direct tax experience.
• Proven experience in a Financial Manager role, including staff management.
• Industry background in an operational environment such as large warehouses or manufacturing (not financial services).
• Proficiency in SAP, Sage X3, or similar ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Full responsibility for the finance function, including general ledger management, fixed assets, creditors, taxation, and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with IFRS.
• Overseeing and reviewing monthly reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy.
• Developing, implementing, and maintaining internal controls, financial policies, and procedures.
• Managing both internal financial audits and external audits, including liaising with auditors.
• Preparing and delivering monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and management reports.
• Leading the budgeting and forecasting process, including reporting and presentations.
• Managing head office costs and ensuring cost control measures are in place.
• Handling all tax matters, including corporate tax returns and engagement with SARS.
• Ensuring statutory compliance across the business.
• Coordinating the annual insurance declaration process.
• Overseeing BEE reporting and compliance requirements.
• Managing the year-end close process and preparation of annual financial statements.
• Identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives to support the company's business objectives.
• Overseeing procurement and capital expenditure processes.
• Leading and developing the finance team, ensuring effective staff management.
• Assessing and determining working capital requirements for the business.
