Job description

Financial Manager Job Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the full financial function of multiple statutory entities.
  2. Prepare consolidated Management Accounts in line with deadlines, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  3. Manage cash flow reporting and forecasting.
  4. Prepare consolidated Statement of Financial Position along with audit files.
  5. Ensure journal entries are accurately captured.
  6. Update income tax and deferred tax calculations.
  7. Maintain the accuracy of the fixed asset register on a rolling basis.
  8. Compile various financial reports for business management.
  9. Report monthly financial results to the executive committee.
  10. Analyze financial results of individual business units or cost centres against budgets, investigating variances.
  11. Reconcile and submit VAT and PAYE returns, liaising with SARS/tax practitioners on tax issues.
  12. Coordinate year-end audits with external auditors.
  13. Manage creditors’ reconciliations and payments, including review and approval of all payments and bank reconciliations.
  14. Liaise with banks regarding financing and banking issues.
  15. Coordinate and plan the annual budget process.
  16. Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned by the CFO.
  17. People Management:

    1. Manage a team of over 10 accountants and a three-member creditors team.
    2. Provide leadership, structure, coaching, and mentoring to the finance team.
    3. Conduct performance evaluations and manage team development.

    Qualifications:

  • Technical accounting knowledge (IFRS); GAAP experience is advantageous.
  • Experience with Evolution or other accounting packages.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Must be a South African resident.
