The Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring the financial health of the organisation, and providing strategic guidance to senior management.This role involves managing financial planning, reporting, budgeting, compliance functions, working capital, process optimisation, internal controls, pricing strategies, and production cost monitoring to optimise financial performance.Responsibilities and Duties
Develop and implement financial strategies to support business objectivesConduct financial analysis and modelling to evaluate business opportunities and risksPrepare and present financial forecasts and reports to senior managementAssist the Finance Executive and lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to align financial plansMonitor budget performance and provide variance analysis with actionable insightsRevise forecasts as needed to reflect changes in business conditionsEnsure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsOversee the consolidation of financial reports for multiple business unitsMaintain compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirementsManage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needsDevelop cash flow forecasts and analyse cash position to optimise working capitalImplement strategies to improve cash conversion cycles and enhance working capital efficiencyMonitor accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory levels to optimise working capitalIdentify financial risks and develop mitigation strategiesEnsure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory standardsCoordinate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and supportManage capital expenditure projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goalsMonitor and report on return on investment (ROI) for major projectsDevelop pricing strategies that align with market conditions and business goalsEnsure accurate pricing of products and controls around pricingConduct competitive analysis to ensure pricing is optimised for profitability and market shareCollaborate with sales and marketing teams to adjust pricing based on demand and cost changesMonitor and analyse production costs to identify trends and variancesCollaborate with production teams to implement cost-saving initiatives and improve efficiencyProvide detailed reports on production cost performance and recommend adjustments as necessaryAnalyse existing financial processes and identify areas for improvementDevelop and implement streamlined processes to enhance efficiency and accuracyCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate best practices and innovative solutionsDesign and implement robust internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure data integrityRegularly review and update internal controls to adapt to changing business environmentsTrain staff on internal control procedures and ensure adherence across the organisationLead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvementConduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunitiesEncourage collaboration and knowledge sharing within the finance departmentCommunicate financial insights and recommendations to non-financial stakeholdersPrepare presentations for board meetingsAct as a liaison between finance and other departments to ensure alignment on financial objectivesQualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related fieldProfessional certification (e.g. CA(SA), CIMA)5-7 years’ experience in a finance management roleExtensive knowledge of financial management principles and practicesUnderstanding of the industry and its financial dynamicsFamiliarity with financial regulations, compliance standards and risk managementProficiency in financial software and toolsPastel experience (advantageous)Strong leadership and team management skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective communication and interpersonal skillsStrategic thinking and ability to influence decision makingHigh attention to detail and organisational skillsValid Driver’s License (Code 08)Bilingual (Afrikaans & English)Located in Pietermaritzburg and willing to travel for workClosing Date 15August 2025
