The Financial Manager is responsible for the financial management of multiple African entities and reports to the Senior Finance Manager. The role ensures accurate reporting of financial results and position, overseeing day-to-day operations of the African team to ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and reconciliation. The candidate must be highly numerate, well-organized, and deadline-driven.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly management reports.
- Review management accounts, including income statements, variance analysis, and commentary documentation.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and trial balances for completeness.
- Approve journal entries and maintain the Monthly Financial Reporting Index.
- Reconcile open items and aging reports to ensure timely resolution of transactions.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of accounting and gaming data to Group Reports.
- Standardize reporting across entities.
- Conduct analytical reporting, review income statements, and provide summaries to the Senior Finance Manager.
- Address country manager queries related to financial reports.
Corporate Governance:
- Prepare financial data for Board reports and minutes.
- Coordinate audits with the statutory team and review audit reconciliations and queries.
- Manage tax compliance, including statutory calculations and returns for all gaming entities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for new entities, regions, and products.
- Oversee transfer pricing governance and ensure intercompany billing compliance.
- Manage contracts, internal billing, and ensure contracts are current and properly documented.
Funds and Assets Management:
- Own and update annual and rolling forecasts, analyze variances, and escalate issues.
- Manage cash flow, approve payments, and ensure timely supplier and intergroup payments.
- Review fixed asset registers and ensure proper capitalization and insurance coverage.
Systems and Controls:
- Ensure Navision, TM1, and other systems operate effectively.
- Recommend operational improvements and liaise with BI for transactional data accuracy.
- Maintain accounting policies and draft process notes for continuity.
Finance Staffing:
- Manage team structure, KPIs, and day-to-day operations.
- Conduct team appraisals, set objectives, and provide mentorship.
- Motivate resource requirements as needed.
Ad hoc Duties:
- Perform other duties as required.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manage trial balances of all entities.
- Qualifications include B.Com (Accounting) with articles, CA(SA), CIMA, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years managerial experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced) and knowledge of IFRS.
- Experience with Navision and reviewing Annual Financial Statements is desirable.
- Must be an independent, self-motivated worker with strong analytical, problem-solving, and business acumen skills.
- Excellent writing skills and project management capabilities are essential.
