QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Post Graduate Degree in a relevant Finance or Accounting field. Certificate in Business Management or HR Management. Registered Professional with a relevant Institution as a Chartered Accountant. PC – must be Computer Literate: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, ACCPAC / SAGE.

FUNDAMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and a forthright attitude where service and value are rewarded and respected in a team environment.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be highly committed and self-motivated.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to organise, prioritise, execute and follow up on many concurrent duties.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in business priorities and objectives.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

At least 10 years' experience, of which 5 years in a senior financial role combined and 5 years as a Chartered Accountant. Preferably, a background in the power industry. Confident in business management and financial reporting including financial policies, procedures, project finance, loan structuring and internal controls.

CORE REQUIREMENTS:

  • The duties of the Financial Manager will include but may not be limited to:
  • With the General Manager, act as co-ordinator and liaison between the Business and the Board of Directors.
  • Preparation of financial models.
  • Assist with investigation on financing and loan structuring issues and commitments and ensure has taken the most optimal strategic position in terms of its debt commitments.
  • Ensure financial goals and operational performance as targeted by Management and the Board of Directors are met.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Annual Operating Plan and budget with inputs from all relevant teams.
  • Determine that appropriate financial reporting / management systems are in place, which fulfil the requirements of Management, shareholders, tax authorities and other governmental authorities and ensure overall conformity to standard practice.
  • Assume responsibility for full compliance with all finance and support reporting requirements, including statutory requirements, monthly, quarterly and annual requirements and lender requirements.
  • Monitor the company's cash management, provide accurate cash flow forecast and manage treasury function including the investment of surplus funds.
  • Work closely with the General Manager on all aspects of current performance, future outlook and level of indebtedness.
  • Be aware of financial performance at all times and be prepared to proactively communicate variances from budget plan to affected parties including Leaders, General Manager, and the Board of Directors.
  • Updating of the project model, ensuring accurate input, output and forecasting, including seamless roll up into regional and corporate model.
  • Ensure adequate attention and preparation is devoted to development of information packs, agendas and minutes for business and Board of Directors meetings.
  • Provide hands-on leadership.
  • Understand the structure of the business and commercial aspects of the business.
  • Always ensure reports comply with relevant Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and IFRS.
  • Ensure monthly reconciliations and journals are performed, and check for accuracy.
  • Ensure accuracy and timely distribution of invoices to debtors.
  • Review and approve salaries and wages and ensure that reconciliations are carried out.
  • Ensure timely and proficient handling of tax matters and maintaining compliance, both in company tax matters and also expatriate personal tax matters.
  • Ensure proper fuel and spares stock control and inventory valuation, and work closely with Stores to develop and implement procedures and systems to accurately reflect Stores content and valuation.
  • Manage the financing of the company's Insurance premium.
  • Ensure monthly update of the fixed asset register and prepare fixed assets schedules, reconciliations and IFRIC4 calculations.
  • Accounting of accruals and approval of all creditor payments.
  • Choose and counsel the decision makers with regard to financial and accounting issues.
  • Ensure team members develop and deliver an accurate, effective, efficient and timely financial reporting package and develop a process / procedure to ensure this happens.
  • Develop and maintain procedures to ensure accurate forecasting of revenue and expenditure.
  • Review and approve Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Financial statements and make relevant presentations.
  • Provide advice on business strategy.
  • Lead and manage the coordination of annual audit of both Pty Ltd, Holding company.
  • Ensure adherence to designed internal control systems via compliance programmes and projects to improve efficiency of company systems.
  • Ensure all statutory returns, including those related to labour issues, are submitted on a timely basis.

ADMINISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Provide leadership and mentoring to all team members, focusing on cross training, growth opportunities and expansion of skill sets.
  • Take responsibility for developing personal development plans, quarterly and annual performance reviews, and progression plans for all team members.
  • Hold team members accountable for their actions through counselling, mentoring, and if necessary, disciplinary action.
  • Embrace the company culture and spread it throughout the company.
  • Determine that the accounting system and related interfaces are functioning properly and the integrity of these systems is maintained.
  • Ensure that the Company has an organization and policies that enable it to recruit, deploy, develop and motivate staff of a suitable calibre, to meet the present and future requirements of the Company.
  • Assist in the development of the Company procurement process utilizing significant input from the Leaders and management.
  • Actively participate and encourage good housekeeping, teamwork and upholding of superior standards in your area.
  • Assist in developing and improving practices and procedures on an ongoing basis in step with modern technology and experience gained.
  • Be fully conversant with and adhere to general and plant safety regulations and codes.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the success of the company and its people by adopting and living the company values and principles.
  • Develop a knowledge of power plant operation and the generation of electricity.
