Job description

The Financial Manager will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations and ensuring effective financial management across the business.This includes financial reporting, compliance, cash flow control, asset management, staff leadership, and ensuring accurate system-based data integrity.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to manage a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure all team members adhere to company policies and standard operating procedures.Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met, and targets achieved.Oversee monthly reconciliations and ensure timely clearance of outstanding items.Prepare monthly management accounts and support schedules.Maintain effective daily cash flow control, including preparation of daily cash flow reports.Manage inter-account fund transfers to optimise interest earned.Oversee and improve the process for collection of outstanding payments.Systems & ReportingMaintain proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information captured in the Dealer Management System (DMS).Produce all required daily, weekly, and monthly reports.Manage access and password controls within financial systems.Staff ManagementEnsure staff are trained and equipped to carry out their roles efficiently.Support, motivate, and manage the performance of the finance / admin team.Ensure all salary adjustments, leave documentation, and payroll inputs are submitted accurately and timeously to the HR department in line with payroll cut-off dates.Asset & Inventory ControlImplement effective asset control procedures, including regular stock checks (e.g.

weekly vehicle counts).Ensure all fixed assets are recorded correctly and depreciation applied accurately.Understand and oversee bi-annual stock take procedures (typically conducted in February and August).Statutory ComplianceComplete and submit all statutory returns (e.g.

VAT) accurately and within prescribed deadlines.Support compliance with FIC obligations, including timeous reporting of section 28, 29, CTR / CTRA, and STR transactions.Maintain and update the goAML system as necessary.General AccountingPrepare comprehensive monthly management packs, including full balance sheet reconciliations.Oversee monthly commission calculations for departments, ensuring accuracy and proper approvals.Monitor floorplan utilisation and coordinate vehicle settlements timeously.Process standard monthly journals and manage OEM-related accounts.Verify variable incentives against OEM communication, and ensure approvals are in placeplete and submit industry reporting requirements (e.g.

STATS SA).Budgeting & ForecastingAssist in the preparation of quarterly budgets in collaboration with departmental managers.Finalise budgets with senior management and assist in board-level presentation and review processes.Audit & Year-EndCoordinate with external auditors during audit preparation and fieldworkpile and present financial packs for year-end reviews.Post all final year-end journal entries and ensure alignment with audited financials.Leave ManagementEnsure availability during key financial periods, especially February and month-end closures.Track and reconcile leave pay commission and bonuses separately via journal entries.Conduct monthly leave audits to ensure accurate leave balances and allocation.Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting / Finance (BCom preferred)5+ years of financial management experience, ideally in a high-volume, fast-paced environmentStrong understanding of accounting principles, cash flow management, and statutory complianceProficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial / ERP systems (e.g.
