Job summary

Time Personnel seeks a seasoned Financial Manager in Constantia, Cape Town. You will oversee two staff, drive month-end close, and ensure accuracy of the financial statements and cash flow. A strong background in Xero and process improvement is essential.

The role supports Directors in strategic planning and requires a hands-on leader with proven mentoring ability. Hybrid/hybrid working is possible in this fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• BCom qualification or CA/HA honours or CIMA preferred.
• Minimum 8 years as Financial Manager with leadership experience.
• Highly proficient in Xero accounting software.
• Experience mentoring accounts staff and improving processes.
• Logistics/transport experience is advantageous.
• Demonstrated track record of accurate reporting and controls.

Responsibilities

• Report to Directors and oversee two financial staff.
• Oversee month-end close: accruals, prepayments, provisions, depreciation, forex revaluation, payroll journals.
• Reconcile bank, creditors and control accounts monthly.
• Prepare monthly management accounts within deadlines.
• Manage income statement, balance sheet and cash flow.
• Oversee variance analysis against budget.
• Prepare year-end file for external auditors and sign off VAT/EMP submissions.
• Maintain and optimise the Xero environment and internal controls.
• Ensure finance records are audit-ready at all times.

Financial Manager job vacancy in Constantia, Cape Town.

Do you have 10 years financial management experience and have used the XERO accounting system to keep the full financial portfolio up to date?

We require your BCom Qualification, CA preferable, or Hons / CIMA etc. to join our client managing their financial function and oversee two financial staff reporting into the Directors.

Based in Constantia, Southern Suburbs, we require a hands on employee who is strong in systems, improving processes to add value to our clients fast growing business.

This can be inhouse or potentially a hybrid position.

Requirements:

• BCom Qualification, CA preferable, or Hons / CIMA etc.
• Experience as a Financial Manager, minimum 8 years
• Highly proficient in accounting package Xero
• Experience managing and mentoring staff
• Experience in Logistics / Transport highly advantageous
• Excellent track record
• Strong supplier problem solving skills
• Ability to think out of the box and improve systems as needed

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reporting into the Directors
• Managing two accounts payable / finance administration staff
• Month-end close: accruals, prepayments, provisions, depreciation, forex revaluation, payroll journals.
• Bank, creditors and control account reconciliations signed off monthly.
• Produce monthly management accounts within deadlines
• Manage Income statement, balance sheet and cash flow
• Oversee variance analysis against budget
• Prepare the year-end file for external auditors
• Review and sign off VAT201 returns
• Oversee EMP201 and EMP501 submissions and reconciliations.
• Review and authorise the creditors payment run
• Own the difficult supplier conversations personally involving rates disputes, credit note delays, service failures etc.
• Document, standardise and continuously improve the accounting processes
• Design and enforce internal controls, own the month-end close calendar
• Maintain and optimise the Xero environment
• Ensure finance records are audit-ready at all times.
