Job summary

Qualifications

  • 8–10 years' relevant finance experience with at least 5 years in senior roles.
  • Statutory reporting, tax compliance, audits and revenue authority engagements.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, Corporate Income Tax, VAT, withholding taxes and transfer pricing.
  • Experience in medium to large multinational, shared services or multi-entity environments.
  • Sub-Saharan African tax experience advantageous.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with SAP ERP/SAP suite advantageous.
  • Postgraduate qualification preferred; professional CA(SA) or Tax registration advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse financial results, identify variances and provide insights to management.
  • Ensure IFRS, group reporting requirements and statutory compliance.
  • Manage direct and indirect tax compliance including CIT, provisional tax, VAT, withholding tax and dividends tax.
  • Oversee tax provisioning, deferred tax calculations, tax computations and reconciliations.
  • Engage with SARS and other revenue authorities including audits and disputes.
  • Monitor legislative developments and assess their impact.
  • Provide practical finance, tax and compliance guidance to management.
  • Coordinate transfer pricing and cross-border taxation requirements.
  • Maintain and strengthen financial compliance and internal control frameworks.
  • Lead remediation of control deficiencies, audit findings and gaps.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and act as finance contact for auditors.
  • Ensure timely statutory and regulatory submissions.
  • Support strategic projects, acquisitions and restructurings.
  • Drive process improvement, standardisation and automation in Finance.

Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyse financial results, identify material variances and provide insight to management.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, Group financial reporting requirements and applicable statutory requirements.
  • Manage direct and indirect tax compliance, including Corporate Income Tax, provisional tax, VAT, withholding tax and dividends tax.
  • Oversee tax provisioning, deferred tax calculations, tax computations and supporting reconciliations.
  • Manage engagements with SARS and other relevant revenue authorities, including audits, verifications, reviews and disputes.
  • Monitor legislative developments and assess their financial and operational impact.
  • Provide technical tax guidance on complex transactions, restructures, integrations and business initiatives.
  • Coordinate transfer pricing, cross-border taxation and withholding tax requirements.
  • Maintain and strengthen financial compliance and internal control frameworks.
  • Lead the remediation of control deficiencies, audit findings and compliance gaps.
  • Identify financial, tax and compliance risks and implement appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and act as a key finance contact for auditors.
  • Ensure statutory and regulatory submissions are completed accurately and within deadline.
  • Provide practical finance, tax and compliance guidance to management and business units.
  • Support strategic projects, acquisitions, restructuring and business integrations.
  • Drive process improvement, standardisation and appropriate automation within Finance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • 8–10 years' relevant finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior financial control, tax, compliance or finance management position.
  • Demonstrated experience in statutory reporting, tax compliance, audits and engagements with revenue authorities.
  • Strong practical knowledge of IFRS, Corporate Income Tax, VAT, withholding taxes and transfer pricing.
  • Experience within a medium to large multinational, shared services, logistics or multi-entity environment would be advantageous.
  • Experience with Sub-Saharan African taxation and VAT would be advantageous.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with SAP ERP, SAP S/4HANA, SAP BPC, Group Reporting or comparable finance systems would be advantageous.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Accounting, Taxation or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional qualification such as CA(SA), SAIPA, HDip Tax, MCom Taxation or Tax Practitioner registration would be advantageous.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You will be a technically strong and commercially minded finance professional with excellent analytical and problem-solving ability. Strong attention to detail, sound professional judgement, integrity and the ability to manage senior stakeholders are essential.

You should be comfortable operating in a complex, multi-entity environment and have the confidence to provide practical advice across finance, tax, compliance, controls and governance.
