Job summary

The Accountancy Recruitment Group seeks an ambitious Accountant (2–5 years PQE) to join an acquisitive SME as Finance Controller. You will be mentored by a capable FD and gain exposure to potential future FD responsibilities. The role focuses on overhauling controls and month-end reporting to drive efficiency.

You will contribute to improvements, potential M&A activity, and enhanced management information, supporting growth and adding real value to the board’s insights.

Qualifications

• Be a proactive Finance Manager / FC with ambition, natural proactivity and drive.
• Have real eye for detail and methodical, conscientious approach.
• Have completed CIMA, ACCA or ACA (perhaps 1-5 years PQE).
• Have excellent core accounting skills from either practice or industry.
• Love making improvement and being part of change.
• Experience coaching and developing a small team and enhancing processes / ensuring month end is streamlined.

Responsibilities

Are you an ambitious Accountant perhaps 2-5 years post qual looking for an interesting and rewarding new challenge?.

You’re joining an interesting investor-backed SME amid a period of significant investment and change. As FC you will be working for a highly capable, modern thinking FD. She’s brilliant. Someone who will be an incredible mentor and equip you with all of the skills needed to allow you to progress into an FD role downstream if that is your plan.

You’re joining an acquisitive group with ambitious owners who expect to do additional acquisitions. Your role will naturally expand and develop as the group grows and bolts on other businesses.

The current FD will work with you through the change but will also allow you the autonomy and freedom to make an impact without lots of red tape or micro management.

Step one is an overhaul of the current controls and reporting pack – getting month end slick and developing / coaching the squad to ensure processes are efficient and the board pack is accurate.

You’ll then get stuck into working with the business to drive improvements, potential (likely) M&A processes, bringing new businesses across, enhancing the MI and commercial insights…

It’s a fully fledged FC role with lots to go at and it will really bolster someone’s CV.

You will ideally:
