About the job: Financial Controller - Infrastructure Solutions (Zambia and Swaziland)

Key purpose:

The Financial Controller is an advanced-level role in the Management Accountants job family, operating at a national level in medium to complex environments.

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Compile detailed budgets for the IS Zambia and IS Swaziland business units, in collaboration with the Practice Manager and Finance Business Partner. Consider inputs such as annuity base, employee costs, overheads, and recoveries. Obtain sign-off from the Vice President of Finance.
  2. Prepare monthly detailed forecasts for the IS Zambia and IS Swaziland business units, considering inputs like sales pipeline, employee costs, overheads, recoveries, and annuity base.
  3. Manage month-end closure and accounting activities for the IS Zambia and IS Swaziland units, including analysis of entries and processing of accruals.
  4. Oversee month-end closure for one or two Business Units of Infrastructure Solutions South Africa, including review of revenue, margin, and processing of accruals and deferrals.
  5. Generate reports to review performance, including variance analysis of actuals and forecasts versus budgets.
  6. Coordinate the preparation of annual financial statements and liaise with auditors.
  7. Perform balance sheet reconciliations for all general ledger accounts of the IS Zambia and IS Swaziland units.
  8. Process and submit VAT and tax returns in consultation with auditors.
  9. Assist in reviewing and approving commission calculations for Infrastructure Solutions.

Qualifications and experience:

  • 2-3 years of relevant working experience
  • BCom or similar qualification
