About the Unit

Based in Sandton, Gauteng, Yara is seeking a highly capable and driven Financial Controller to join our Africa leadership team, based in Johannesburg and reporting to the Finance Director for Africa. This is a key strategic role that will lead performance management, financial planning, and tax governance across a complex and diverse region. As a trusted partner to country leaders and senior management, you will provide insight and leadership to drive profitability, manage risk, and support our long-term strategic agenda across the continent.

Responsibilities
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for the Africa region, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Provide performance analysis and commercial insight across multiple markets, supporting decision-making and identifying opportunities to improve earnings and ROIC.
  • Drive financial accountability and transparency across countries through accurate, timely reporting and variance analysis.
  • Partner with country managers and functional leads to monitor P&L, working capital, cash flow, and balance sheet performance.
  • Act as the primary finance contact for all tax matters across Africa, managing tax compliance, coordinating local audits, and partnering with global tax teams and external advisors to mitigate tax risk and ensure full regulatory alignment.
  • Support strategy execution through modelling, scenario planning, and business case evaluation for growth and efficiency projects.
  • Lead the consolidation and presentation of regional financial results to senior management and global stakeholders.
  • Act as a financial partner in M&A transactions, including due diligence, integration planning, and post-transaction analysis.
  • Oversee and improve financial controls, compliance with internal policies, and adherence to local and international accounting standards.
  • Champion the development and implementation of standard finance processes, tools, and KPIs across the cluster.
  • Collaborate with Yara YAA and Central Finance functions to ensure efficient service delivery and information flow.
  • Develop and coach junior finance team members across the region, fostering a high-performance, learning-oriented culture.
  • Coordinate financial and tax audits, statutory reporting, and ensure full tax and regulatory compliance in collaboration with local teams.
  • Support the Finance Director in strategic projects, transformation programs, and leadership communication across the region
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in regional or multinational finance roles, ideally in agriculture, commodities, or industrial sectors.
  • Proven track record in business controlling, strategic finance, and commercial partnering.
  • Deep understanding of tax compliance and tax governance in Africa; experience managing audits and tax authority engagements across multiple jurisdictions is a strong advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting systems (SAP, SUN, Power BI, etc.).
  • Experience working across diverse African markets is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
What we offer
  • A pivotal cluster finance role in one of Yara’s most dynamic and high-potential markets
  • The opportunity to work at the intersection of business strategy and financial excellence
  • Exposure to senior leadership and decision-making across multiple African countries
  • A high-performing, collaborative team environment focused on accountability, empowerment, and continuous learning
  • Competitive compensation, professional growth opportunities, and a global network of expertise within one of the world’s leading crop nutrition companies
