Job summary

HotelJobs is seeking a Financial Controller for a 5-Star private game reserve in the Eastern Cape. The role combines commercial insight with strong accounting discipline to manage monthly reporting, budgeting, cash flow and compliance.

You will lead a finance team, oversee VAT, PAYE, intercompany activities, and liaise with auditors. Experience in luxury hospitality, IFRS knowledge and advanced Excel are essential.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or diploma in accounting/finance.
• 3–5 years finance experience with 1–2 years in supervision.
• Experience in luxury hotel, lodge or hospitality setting.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Familiarity with Sage 300/Accpac, Protel, Opera PMS, Micros POS or Materials Control.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and SA VAT legislation; hospitality finance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial reports, reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
• Manage daily cash flow, banking and payment processes.
• Oversee VAT, PAYE and statutory compliance.
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
• Supervise accounts payable and receivable.
• Monitor costs, stock control and purchasing controls.
• Strengthen internal financial controls across departments.
• Provide financial guidance to lodge and department managers.
• Liaise with auditors and authorities.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team.

A prestigious 5-star private game reserve in the Eastern Cape is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to join its finance team.

Requirements:

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance or related field
• 3–5 years’ progressive finance experience, with 1–2 years in a supervisory role
• Experience within a luxury hotel, lodge or hospitality environment
• Advanced MS Excel skills
• Experience with systems such as Sage 300/Accpac, Protel, Opera PMS, Micros POS or Materials Control
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, South African VAT legislation and hospitality finance
• Excellent reconciliation, reporting and analytical skills
