Qualifications

• Qualified CA(SA) with 3-5 years of finance experience.
• Experience with UK-based organisations in a Financial Controller or senior finance capacity.
• Strong experience in management accounts, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial controls.
• Proven experience overseeing transactional finance functions (AP/AR/payroll and reconciliations).
• Solid understanding of UK accounting principles, VAT and statutory reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems (Xero).
• Experience in multi-site environments, healthcare or professional services is advantageous.

• Own monthly management accounts, financial reporting and preparation of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
• Analyse performance, profitability and KPIs; identify variances, risks and opportunities.
• Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts and cash flow planning with operations.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination and reconciliations.
• Maintain strong financial controls; ensure compliance with UK principles and VAT.

Own the finance function for a growing UK healthcare group

Role Overview

A growing UK-based healthcare group is looking for a Financial Controller to take ownership of its finance function. This is an opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, improve financial performance across the business and support continued expansion.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will oversee financial reporting, management accounts, cash flow, budgeting and day-to-day financial operations. You will also play a key commercial role, providing financial insights to improve profitability, strengthen controls and support strategic decisions across the group.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of monthly management accounts, financial reporting and the preparation of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reports across multiple locations.
• Analyse financial performance, profitability and operational KPIs, identifying variances, risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts and cash flow planning, working closely with operational management to monitor financial performance.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, payroll coordination and financial reconciliations.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with UK accounting principles, VAT requirements and statutory reporting obligations.
• Support commercial decision-making through profitability analysis, cost optimisation, investment appraisals and financial modelling for potential acquisitions or expansion.
• Improve and standardise financial processes, reporting systems and dashboards, identifying opportunities for automation and greater efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified CA(SA), with at least 3 - 5 years of relevant finance experience.
• At least 1 - 2 years of experience working with UK-based organisations in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar senior finance capacity.
• Strong experience in management accounts, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial control.
• Proven experience overseeing transactional finance functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and reconciliations.
• Solid understanding of UK accounting principles, VAT requirements and financial compliance.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems, ideally including Xero and related reporting or finance automation tools.
• Experience in a multi-site business, healthcare or professional services environment would be advantageous, particularly where this includes commercial analysis, acquisitions or business expansion.
