Job summary

The Role:

This position sits within our Finance Team, reporting to the Finance Director and taking full responsibility for Kocho's transactional process across both South Africa and all UK entities.

You will lead the Transactional Finance Team to manage the day-to-day financial operations of the business, as well as providing in-country technical finance support in South Africa for the Management Accounts Team.

This will involve proactively managing and maintaining:

AR and AP Transactional Processes: This will involve managing the team to ensure good process controls on customer invoices, supplier bills and all associated double-entry, e.g. revenue recognitions, prepayments, accruals and allocations

Kocho SA Annual Filling, Tax and VAT management: this will involve working with an external party to ensure all business commitments are met, no fines are incurred and Transfer Pricing and International VAT Reclaims are processed accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the UK based Management Accounts Team on month end close tasks, specifically items relating to the accurate and timely close of AR and AP ledgers
  • Review and approval of AP and AR general ledger data to allow closure of books by working day 4
  • Preparation of Kocho SA Management Accounts, including all accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Overhead analysis for all Kocho Group entities across the UK and South Africa
  • Management of all local cash controls; approval and processing of SA payroll, accepting inwards funds from the UK and processing supplier payments as advised by the Kocho Treasury Team
  • Effectively leading and motivating the Finance Transactional Team, including weekly 1:1's and quarterly target reviews in line with the company PDP scheme
  • Maintaining strong controls, reducing risk and ensuring departmental process is followed at all times.
  • Support with process improvement and automation efforts.


Minimum Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in a senior financial operations role
  • Good understanding of cash flows and experience forecasting either inflows or outflows
  • Experience working with Transfer Pricing and International VAT Reclaims
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with ability to delegate effectively
  • Confident communicator, able to communicate effectively at all levels of seniority both internally and externally
  • Experience in developing training programmes for new or existing employees
  • Excellent attention to detail with a no-nonsense approach to errors
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook experience
  • Adaptable and capable of multi-tasking and working to tight deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment experiencing rapid change
  • Ability to take responsibility for team workload, and support in meeting deadlines
  • Be in office 3 days per week (Tuesday-Thursday)


Preferable Experience:
  • Sage Intact (or other SaaS Accounting Software) experience
  • CIMA or ACCA qualified or Part Qualified Accountant
