Financial Controller | Fixed Term | Germiston
Africa, is seeking a seasoned Financial Controller [Mozambique] to temporarily join our team at the Germiston branch.

Role Overview
The Financial Controller will play a pivotal role by assisting the Finance Team by providing administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective and efficient administrative operations in the Region and at the Depot’s.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Analysis of the financial results of the region
- Analysis and explanation of management accounts to budgets and forecasts
- Finalising inter-depot charges
- Development and measurement of regional production KPI’s
- Presentation of financial results to Regional management Team
- Controlling all purchase orders against budget/ forecast
- Assisting the GM and FM in the preparation of annual budget and bi-annual forecast
- Ensuring compliance to internal controls at depot level
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Prepare and publish timely variance analysis on the monthly management accounts.
- Coordinate the preparation and collection of data/information for Statutory and other Financial Audits
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Develop and control operational financial KPI’s on fleet and facility management such as (not limited) fuel consumption, energy consumption and product flow/ consumption
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Additional controller duties as necessary
- Liaising with external auditors in Mozambique
- Assist and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Ensure invoicing complies with legislation.
- Prepare Cashflow projections
- Review salary journals
- Assist Accounts Receivable collection
- Manage petty cash and petty cash reconciliations
- Payments: Assist the FM to register all service type contracts with the Department of finance and obtain a binding opinion in respect of Withholding Tax on Double Taxation Treaty.
- Payments: Assist the FM to obtain tax clearance certificates for all cross-border payments.
- Coordinate all service and goods type payments to Interwaste in South Africa.
- Exports to Mozambique: develop and review the export document control and administration processes inclusive of export registers and export files.
- Assist the taxation accountant in ensuring a local Portuguese chart of accounts is maintained as described by Mozambican law.
- Review the monthly payroll journals and statutory deductions and ensure compliance on submissions and payments.
COMMUNICATION AND FEEDBACK
- Ensure all your superiors are notified in a timely manner regarding aspects of your areas as deemed necessary by them.
- Deal with personnel matters such as reporting incidents, customer complaints, requesting new employees, extension of contracts and terminations to your manager,
- Ensure your manager is informed off all staff related matters that will affect the organisation in a dire manner immediately (e.g. IR).
MENTORSHIP AND SKILLS TRANSFERENCE
- Ensure all subordinates and colleagues are up-skilled and ensure transference of skills through mentorship and coaching,
- Provide training and guidance for new employees and ensure they are assisted.
ADHOC
- Any other reasonable adhoc duty as required or requested by management.
- It should be noted that individuals may need to expand their roles / scope to cover the work load of other employees in times of high work loads or individuals whom may be absent from work. This is the sole discretion of management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Fulfilled similar role with at least 5 years’ senior financial experience
- Working Experience in Africa
- Grade 12
- B.Com completed, CIMA (Advantageous)
- Related Management Accounting qualification
- Expert MS Office Skills
- Experience working on accounting systems,
- Strong administrative acumen.
- Attention to detail;
- Analytical mindset.
- Accustomed to do reconciliations.
- Proficient in excel
