Financial Controller | Fixed Term | Germiston

Africa, is seeking a seasoned Financial Controller (Mozambique) to temporarily join our team at the Germiston branch. Role Overview

The Financial Controller will play a pivotal role by assisting the Finance Team with administrative and clerical services to ensure effective and efficient operations in the region and at the depots.

Key Performance Areas

• Analysis of regional financial results
• Explanation of management accounts against budgets and forecasts
• Finalizing inter-depot charges
• Development and measurement of regional KPIs
• Presentation of financial results to regional management
• Controlling purchase orders against budgets/forecasts
• Assisting in budget and forecast preparations
• Ensuring compliance with internal controls

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, inventory, and revenue recognition
• Coordinate budget and forecast preparations, report variances
• Prepare variance analysis on management accounts
• Coordinate data collection for audits
• Support month-end and year-end closing
• Develop operational KPIs for fleet and facility management
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting
• Manage compliance with government reporting requirements
• Develop and document business processes and policies
• Liaise with external auditors in Mozambique
• Manage invoicing, cash flow projections, salary journals, and petty cash
• Assist with cross-border payments and export documentation
• Review payroll journals and statutory deductions

Communication & Feedback

Notify superiors of relevant issues promptly; handle personnel matters; inform management of staff-related matters affecting the organization.

Mentorship & Skills Transfer

Upskill colleagues; provide training and guidance to new employees.

Additional Duties

Perform any other duties as required, including role expansion during high workload periods, at management's discretion.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Excellent attention to detail and customer service
• Efficient, fast worker with MS Office proficiency
• Ability to work under pressure and overtime if needed

Minimum Requirements

• At least 5 years' senior financial experience in a similar role
• Experience working in Africa
• Grade 12 and CIMA qualification (advantageous)
• Management accounting expertise
• Proficient in accounting systems and Excel
