Role Overview:


We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead the full financial function across our Group of Companies. This key leadership role involves overseeing financial operations, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, driving budgeting and forecasting strategies, and partnering with senior management to support data-driven decision-making.

Experience in construction finance is a must, with a strong understanding of cost management and project financial controls. Additionally, property finance experience will be highly advantageous given our diversified real estate portfolio. The ideal candidate will be proactive and hands-on, thriving in a dynamic, growing real estate and construction environment where your impact is visible and valued daily.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee the preparation and consolidation of monthly, interim, and annual financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards (IFRS/SARS).

  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process across multiple business units and branches, with special attention to construction projects and property finance.

  • Monitor and manage construction project costs and financial controls to ensure profitability and compliance.

  • Perform detailed financial analysis to inform strategic decisions and investment initiatives in both construction and property portfolios.

  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in all areas of financial reporting and taxation.

  • Manage and supervise finance staff, ensuring robust execution of daily and month-end accounting activities.

  • Conduct internal audits and implement risk management strategies to safeguard company assets.

  • Maintain and refine financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.

  • Coordinate and manage the external audit process, liaising with auditors and preparing required documentation.

  • Monitor key financial indicators, cash flow, and profitability metrics.

  • Ensure all accounts are reconciled accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Drive process improvement and automation of reporting and accounting tasks.

  • Collaborate with senior executives on business planning, funding proposals, and financial strategy.

  • Regularly travel to company branches to support financial governance and consistency across locations.



Requirements


Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field.

  • 6–7 years of experience in a financial department, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role preferred.

  • Proven construction finance experience is essential.

  • Property finance experience highly advantageous.

  • Strong IFRS statutory reporting experience (essential).

  • Extensive CaseWare experience (essential).

  • Tax experience (essential).

  • Proficiency with Sage ERP (advantageous).

  • Additional certifications such as CPA, CA(SA), or AGA(SA) preferred.

  • Experience with financial consolidations (advantageous).
